#Cabernet Day is here

Well we have been mentioning it for over a month, and writing about it incessantly for well nigh a week, and it is finally here.  Today is officially #Cabernet Day.  Lock up the dogs and the kids (just kidding),  grab a bottle of Cabernet and some friends, log on to your favorite social media site, and join the world in tasting the varietals and blends that we have been discussing over the past two weeks.

I began monitoring the #Cabernet Day action in Australia last night and they seemed to have gotten off to a good start. I fired up Twitterfall.com this morning and searched for #Cabernet and the wine Twittersphere in Europe was in full gear and the US was beginning to see some early action.

Let's have some fun here in Orlando today.  There are a number of big events planned (The Shafer Hillside Select vertical tasting at Luma put on by Wineontheway.com and the Phelps Insignia and Backus verticals at The Wine Barn.) but you can (and should) still enjoy the day even if you are not at one of those events.  Participate locally and virtually.  And remember to use the hashtag #Cabernet to see what others are saying and to have what you are saying included in the stream.  This hashtag will display all #Cabernet Day postings on Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and other social media sites.  If there is space in your tweet please also use the hashtag #Orlando so that we can attempt to count the Orlando tweets at the end of the day.

I will be posting updates during the course of the day.
