Parker Changes Scores For 2009
According to the AntiqueWine Company, Robert Parker has changed his scoring system for the 2009 vintage. According to the company, "... the vintage is so good, and the quality so high that Parker has needed to go beyond 100 points." For chateaux providing exceptional quality, Parker has awarded them an asterisk over and above the 100-point score. We will flesh this out as more information becomes available.

Oh my, this is an interesting development.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get that feeling from many other critic's. Can't wait to see how this plays out.
Not sure Antique Wine Company got that quite right, but 2009 is supposed to be all that and a bag of donuts. Unfortunately, the points came out prior to the En Primeur, so expect prices to go up.
ReplyDeleteThanks to research by HlyTerroir we are able to say definitively that Antique Wine Company overstated Parker's intent. Parker's specifc statement regarding the asterisk associated with some chateau scores is reproduced below.
ReplyDeleteReaders will notes an asterisk (*) after some wine scores. I added this to signify when I thought a wine had the finest potential of all the offerings I had ever tasted from that estate in nearly 32 years of barrel tasting samples in Bordeaux.
